Encourage the establishment of national associations of sign language interpreters in countries that do not have them

WASLI is a membership organisation aimed at advancing the profession of sign language interpreting worldwide. We do not offer or provide signed language interpreting services. For those partners looking for International Sign – English interpreters we kindly redirect you to the WFD-WASLI IS Certified Interpreters list.
In pursuit of the aim, we will:
Encourage the establishment of national associations of sign language interpreters in countries that do not have them.
Share information and be a reference point for interpreting issues, using the World Wide Web and other internationally accessible ways
Support the work of sign language interpreters working at international events, e.g. conferences, sporting event
Welcome to the website for the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI). The new WASLI website is soon to be published- this page provides a summary of what is on the website. Viewers can also translate the site using various AI translation applications.
This site brings you information about the Association, its history, the aims, the structure, and about how you can become a member.
WASLI has also worked with the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) to make a joint statement of our commitment to work together.
From the first WASLI Conference in South Africa in 2005 many interpreters wanted to see information on a range of topics made available.
Here you will be able to find information on:
Setting up a National Association
List of Training Establishments
Testing/Assessment of Interpreters
WFD-WASLI IS Accreditation
How to get support from Government
Mentoring for Interpreters
